On this page, notices on medicine shortages for healthcare professionals (MSC – Medicine Shortage Communication) are published.
Through these notices, marketing authorization holders provide important information directly to healthcare professionals. Each notice is approved by JAZMP before publication. The purpose of these notices is to alert healthcare professionals to the shortage event itself and to the measures required to mitigate its consequences.
Medicine Shortage Communications (MSCs) are used when a shortage is associated with:
- the withdrawal of a marketing authorization for commercial reasons,
- manufacturing or supply disruptions,
- an unexpected increase in demand for a specific medicine.
A MSC is used when the shortage is not related to issues concerning the quality, safety, or efficacy of the medicine.
